I often get asked, “What products do you recommend for our clients?”
The truth is, there are endless gift options.
But the best question is not “What should we give?” It is “What do we want this gift to mean?”
It is easy to get sidetracked by shiny objects:
- What is the cheapest?
- What is trending?
- What are our competitors doing?
- What are the big brands doing?
Those questions can be helpful, but they should never be the focus of your brand.
Every brand has something unique to share. It may be the founder’s story, the reason the company began, the people behind the work, or the difference its products and services make for customers. That story is where meaningful gifting begins.
At Magic Promotions, we take the time to listen before we recommend a product. We learn what matters to our clients, what matters to their customers, and what they want people to remember.
Then we create a gift, design, or experience that represents their brand, speaks their message, and resonates with the people receiving it.
Because a thoughtful gift can do more than put your logo in someone’s hands. It can capture a heart, start a conversation, and help your brand be seen and be remembered.
The IGIFT™ framework
I created the IGIFT™ framework to guide clients toward gifts that are intentional, thoughtful, and memorable.
I is for Intention. Every great gift begins with intention. Before choosing an item, ask: why are we giving this? Is it to welcome a new employee, thank a client, celebrate a milestone, create a meaningful event experience, or reconnect with an audience? When the intention is clear, the gift has purpose.
G is for Goal. What do you hope this gift will accomplish? Maybe you want to strengthen client relationships, make new team members feel welcome, increase event engagement, or inspire people to take action. A thank you gift, an onboarding kit, and a tradeshow giveaway are not solving the same problem, and the goal is what tells them apart. A gift should support a real business goal while still feeling personal to the recipient.
I is for Individual. Who are you giving this to? Your audience is not a logo, a job title, or a mailing list. They are people with needs, preferences, experiences, and emotions. When we understand who is receiving the gift, we can create something that feels relevant instead of generic.
F is for Feeling. This is the heart of intentional gifting.
“People may forget what you said or what you did, but they’d never forget how you made them feel.”
I came from the hospitality world, and I bring that mindset into marketing every day. When Jeff DeSicio and James Feudo interviewed me on the Market Like a Hotshot podcast, I shared a belief that guides how we work: when hospitality meets creativity, that is when the magic happens.
The right gift does not just say, “Here is something from our company.” It says, “We see you. We appreciate you. We thought about you.”
T is for Touchpoints. A gift is part of your brand experience. When will it be received? Where will it be opened? How will it be delivered? What happens before and after that moment? A welcome kit arriving before a new employee’s first day creates a different feeling than one handed over weeks later. A thoughtful event giveaway creates a different memory when it is connected to a meaningful conversation rather than simply placed on a table. The experience matters as much as the item itself.
The questions that help us create something meaningful
When we begin an intentional gifting project, these are some of the questions we ask:
“What do you want people to feel when they receive your gift?”
“What do you want people to remember about your brand?”
We also take the time listening to our clients to understand:
- What is the goal of this gift or campaign?
- Who are we giving it to?
- When, where, and how would you like to deliver this experience?
- What part of your brand story should this gift help tell?
These answers help us create gifts that represent your brand, speak your message, and resonate with your audience, every single time.
The next time you are looking for a product recommendation, pause before selecting the first trendy or inexpensive option.
Start with the why. Start with the feeling. Start with the people you want to reach. Get that right, and the product follows naturally.
Together, we can create an experience that feels thoughtful, connects people to your brand, and stays with them long after the gift is opened.
Let’s make the magic happen.
